It’s Your Choice!
If Nicor is your natural gas utility, you can decide who supplies your natural gas through the Customer Select program.

Corn Belt is the only alternative supplier who has been providing natural gas to Nicor Gas customers since the Customer Select pilot program began in 1998.   With Corn Belt, you’ll get a competitive, variable therm price and access to local, experienced professionals with no additional service fees. 

Plan Descriptions
We offer two variable-rate plans; and whichever plan you choose, the monthly price per therm is all-inclusive.  The rate is based on the average cost of gas in inventory, all balancing, storage and program fees, taxes (if applicable), and our operating margin of 5.25 cents per therm.

Winter Protection Plan
Based on your usage history, the cooperative will purchase up to 80% of your gas requirements before November 1, with the goal of protecting you from the volatility of the winter market.  If you use more or less gas than was purchased on your behalf, your price per therm will be adjusted according to the market price.  You’ll benefit from this plan if it’s an extremely cold winter causing higher market prices.

Market Advantage Plan
Based on your historic usage, approximately 30% of your gas is purchased in the summer (per Nicor storage requirements) with the remainder purchased monthly at market prices.  You will benefit from this plan if it’s a mild winter and market prices remain stable or decline.

Billing Options
You can choose actual billing or opt for our Budget Billing program, which will calculate a monthly, fixed average based on your Nicor account history and the projected average therm rate.  Many members choose Budget Billing so they have predictable, consistent gas bills every month.  Contact us at 866-806-3411 for further details.

The Corn Belt Energy supplier cost will be conveniently included on your Nicor Gas statement, so you only receive and pay one bill.
